PUCV chair Cr Michael Leaney and Deputy Chair, Moira Berry, met with Minister for Skills and TAFE and Regional Development the Hon Gayle Tierney (pictured centre) during the recent delegation to Spring Street.

Peri Urban Councils Victoria (PUCV) continues to gain increased recognition in the halls of Parliament following recent delegations to the State and Federal Government as we have focused our advocacy on our four key pillars:

  1. Addressing the challenges managing the next wave of rapid urban growth in Australia;

  2. Addressing the challenges of being both regional and urban communities which result in a lack of definition in policy and funding;

  3. Planning to appropriately protect of viable agricultural land; and

  4. Maintain the unique character of towns in peri urban communities.

The Federal Delegations to Parliament House met with:

  • Hon Kristy McBain MP Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories;

  • Senator the Hon Anthony Chisolm Assistant Minister for Education and Regional Development;

  • Senator the Hon Carol Brown Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport;

  • Hon Senator Bridget McKenzie, Senator for Victoria;

  • Senator Ralph Ciccone, Senator for Victoria;

  • Hon Darren Chester MP, Shadow Minister for Regional Development, Regional Education and Local Government and Territories;

  • Hon Michael Sukkar, Shadow Minister for Social Services, Shadow Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme,  Shadow Minister for Housing and Homelessness;

  • Mr Russell Broadbent MP, Federal Member for Monash; and

  • Ms Libby Coker MP, Member for Corangamite.

The State delegation to Spring Street met with:
